Jean Ping, the African Union’s Commission’s president, is convinced that the quest for a settlement of the Malagasy crisis is compelled to involve all of the concerned actors

Jean Ping : « the current government is going straight to a wall »

“the current ruling authorities are going straight to a wall, negotiations are compulsory” argued Jean Ping on the waves of Radio France International concerning Madagascar’s political situation. the African Union’s Commission’s president is equally convinced that Rajoelina’s decision to refrain from running the presidential race as Transition’s chief might well be positive but definitely not enough.

Jean Ping insisted on the necessity to find common ground between both conflicting political spheres as a condition to an inclusive and consensual settlement, and quoted Guinea as an example.

The African Union’s summit currently held in Kampala, Uganda, will be the next occasion to address the Malagasy crisis
