Miss Earth 2011: Miss RTA 2011 represents Madagascar

Miando Ratsimiahotrarivo, 19 years old, winner of Miss RTA 2011, will leave for Manila, Philippines on Friday. She will participate in the annual worldwide beauty contest, Miss Earth, edition 2011, which is organized by Carousel Productions, Inc.  For this year, the event was scheduled to take place in the Thai capital, Bangkok, but because of the flood that hit the city, the contest will be held in Manila, Philippines. The coronation ceremony will take place on December 3.

Student in Management at the National Center of Distance Learning of Madagascar (CNTEMAD), Miando Ratsimiahotrarivo intends to defend her candidacy by presenting the issue of using solar energy as an alternative resource to that of the forests. Indeed, proud of the unique biodiversity of the Great Island, Miando will provide, during her brief presentation, an introduction to the wealth of fauna and flora of Madagascar. And in her plea, she invites everyone to take responsibility and to start defending the environment in everyday life itself.

Since this year is the International Year of the forest, whose theme is “Celebrating forests for people”, this year’s Miss Earth will be the ambassador for environment. She will no doubt perform visits in some areas around the world to raise awareness on environmental protection. The Miss Earth 2010 is a native of India.
