The former Prime minister of the HAT has not yet swaped side, but his will to hit the road on his own is not to his former allies' liking at all. Monja Roindefo and the Monima party have the wind ast, and ogle with a certain ambition on the elections. The authorities are more than ever keeping them in their sight.

Monja Roindefo, the HAT’s new issue number one,

Monja Roindefo has the means and the potential to thwart Andry Rajoelina’s presidential project. The former Prime minister of the HAT has, since his ejection, even claimed some good points for not having been targeted by critics thrown on a daily basis at the imposed authorities’ face in reaction to the Maputo II agreements related hesitations. His travels abroad, in Paris, in Israel and in Thailand are stirring mistrust since the man seems to have already tackled electoral pre-campaign. Is Monja Roindefo prospecting for possible financial supports? That is the question.

Demonstration of force

In Tulear, the Monima successfully showed evidences of defiance by staging a big political rally in spite of military deterrents. After a demonstrative parade in the city, Monja Roindefo himself engaged talks with the police forces who blocked the Andaboly stadium’s gateway. His supporters, however, had to force the barricade to invest the place without troubles. The former Prime minister revealed shortly after that soldiers had been ordered to use their weapons loaded with lethal bullets.

Confrontation has been avoide in Tuléar on that day since Monja Roindefo is being protected by a small army. Twenty-eight regular army privates are insuring his personal protection, an advantage basically granted to former Prime ministers. The authorities immediately withdrew Monja Roindefo’s guard. “They have officially been convened for a census. Their weapons have, in reality, been withdrawn, they have been sent back to the barracks, and threatened of being considered as defectors”, argued the former Prime minister. He confesses his confusion, but did not make a drama of it. “There are many militaries who want to protect me”, he said with defiance.

Electoral pre-campaign

Monja Roindefo’s Monima is hitting hard to set its landmarks in this beginning of year. The former Prime minister is planning to stage a big rally in each the six former provinces’ main cities to present his new year’s wishes to the population. A clear political message is obviously lurking behind the new year’s wishes. Monja Roindefo is no more an outsider in the future presidential election. Could the Rajoelina administration successfully rule the three former presidents and mobility leaders out of the race, his position might be even more enhanced.

Monja Roindefo is making a step aside from the HAT path without swaying to the radical opposition. The announcement of his junction with the three mobilities now concentrated  in the Madagasikara front has, somehow, created the surprise. The former Prime minister was not against the consensus. He was only keen on leaving power in the state of the art. He successfully remained in Mahazoarivo in spite of the nomination of another Prime minister, in order to make a correct jump out.

Monja Roindefo has actually well used his remaining power during this judicially confused while. Now, the HAT is being compelled to do its best in order to brake the former Prime minister. To this end, another native of Tulear, and military of his state, has been hired by Andry Rajoelina.
