Music : Ben l’Oncle Soul on vacation in Madagascar

The french soul performer, Ben l’Oncle Soul, is in Madagascar for two weeks vacations. Last weekend, he was spotted hanging out in the Art Tana Café at Ampasamadinika. With the presence of the talented Malagasy guitarist, Joel Rabesolo, who usually performs in this place, Ben l’Oncle Soul could not refrain from getting on stage and performed some improvised tunes.

From Tours, France, Ben is a big fan of American soul music, especially that of the 1960s and 1970s. He was particularly influenced by legendary soul performers like Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Al Green, Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding and Sam Cooke. He was first noticed during the first part of the Music Soulchild, India Arie and Dwele’s concert. His soulful groove as well as his great dynamism earned him appreciation among the public. In 2009, Ben signed a record deal with the Motown Record based in France and released his first LP entitled « Soul Wash ».
