After a short lull, raids on national roads have been resuming since the latest days. By the end of the latest week, three minibuses linking Morondava (West) and Madagascar's central city of Antsirabe, have been raided on the national Road 34.

Rampant insecurity over national roads

Attacks of that kind recently used to pop up on the national road 7, leading to the country’s south, and on the RN2, leading to the eastern coast.

Some transportation companies’ led measures have deterred raiders for a short while. Minibuses have actually decided to travel in convoys, as former US homesteaders used to not that very long ago. The current situation is a new challenge for them. They are now planning the use of armed escorts for the sake of security throughout Madagascar’s wild, wild…tracks.
