Regional Projects: Funding opportunity from the European Union

The Human Development Index (HDI) is at its lowest level, the European Union’s economic evaluation indicators regarding Madagascar are red. They must rescue the Malagasy people. That is the sad expression that the E.U has stated after its experts delivered their reports concerning Madagascar.

Consequently, in order to help the Malagasy people, the European Union has sent two trainers to work with civil society organizations acting in human rights area of Analamanga, Vakinakaratra, Atsimo Andrefana and Mahajanga. The trainers will introduce these organizations to filling out application forms of calls for proposal, will set up good and viable projects that will attract investors, and will carry out development activities initially proposed by local associations and NGOs.

According to these U.N envoys, it is the first time in the world that a call for proposals is launched and targeted for a single country, Madagascar. That is in order to show to civil society organizations that a great and unique opportunity is being offered to them. The closing date of the call is scheduled for September 15, 2011.
