SMM: International recognition after the departure of the Minister of Justice

According to the President of the Union of Magistrates of Madagascar (SMM), Marius Arnaud Auguste, Christine Razanamahasoa, the Minister of Justice is a major obstacle to resolving the crisis that currently gripping the country. “As long as Razanamahasoa Christine continues to be the Minister of Justice, Madagascar will never get a full international recognition,” he argued in a press conference yesterday.

 The President of SMM also said he is against the fact that the case involving Professor Raymond Ranjeva is now being brought to justice. The President of SMM, talking about the BANI case, publicly denounced a wave of manipulation inside the Malagasy judiciary system. According to his explanations, the Minister of Justice has given special instructions to the judges presiding over the BANI case.

Freshly reelected as the President of the Union of Magistrates of Madagascar, Marius Arnaud Auguste sets a new goal which is an independent judiciary. During the press conference, the President of SMM highlighted all the weaknesses plaguing the Malagasy judiciary system. In addition, he said magistrates of Madagascar will put an end to their strike. Instead, they will use other means to voice their claims. The new strategy is to expose publicly any deficiencies that may affect the independence of the judiciary.
