Starkey Hearing Foundation: 3 000 hard of hearing persons granted with free hearing aid

A delegation from the Starkey Hearing Foundation (SHF) is currently in Madagascar for humanitarian mission. For the first time in the history of the Great Island, hearing foundation such as the SHF performs humanitarian actions in the country.  Actually, 3 000 hearing aids, worth about 1 000 US Dollars, will be granted to hard of hearing persons, 2 100 from Antananarivo, 864 from Toamasina and 270 from Antsirabe. A press conference presenting the mission, led by the Ministry of Public Health, in partnership with Starkey Foundation and some Rotary Clubs of the capital, was held at the Carlton Hotel yesterday.

Landing in the country yesterday, the SHF delegation, led by its President, Bill William Austin, will have no time for doing tourism. Indeed, starting from today, the delegation will go to Toamasina for the distribution of the hearing aids. The trip to Toamasina will last three days, and on October 29, the delegation will head back to the capital to grant the hearing aids to the 2 100 hard of hearing persons of Antananarivo and the 270 of Antsirabe.  The granting ceremony of the materials will be held at the Gymnase Mahamasina and will last six days.
