According to a poll conducted within the capital, a majority supports the privatization of the audiovisual media licensed to transmit nationally. The perennial question of ?National Coverage? being the prerogative of one chain or another is again brought to public attention. It appears the end of the public monopoly for national coverage, is in sight. Before now, private companies were not allowed access to the national airwaves. They were constrained to operate within the bounds of a certain region or even of a particular town covering no more than about 50 square kilometers. Midi headline says,? Should we allow private access to the national airwaves?? The polling agency Capsule conducted a questionnaire to answer this question and according to them the majority (55%) of Tananarivians has answered positively. Only 3% have categorically opposed this view while the remaining 43% are divided in that 27% have contented themselves with a ?probably yes? answer while only 15% said probably not. The undecided represent 14%.
