The Habitat International Fair officially opened its doors

The Habitat International Fair began yesterday and will last for four days at the exhibition park, Futura, at Andranomena. Actually, this event brings together in one place the various operators and professionals in the housing sector, among others, those in the real estate and furniture, those in the field of interior design and house equipment and accessories. The fair represents for these people real opportunities to commercialize their products. During the four-day fair, the 80 participating companies will be able to increase the number of their customers, but also to exchange experience and information between them to improve the sector.

At the opening ceremony, Hajo Andrianainarivelo, Minister of Planning and Decentralization, said his department has a duty to support such an event in order to raise awareness among the different stakeholders of this sector and the various institutional and financial partners so that they support the policies of the current regime concerning habitat. The housing sector is indeed a key sector for the development of Madagascar. He added that the Malagasy government has always tried to meet the needs of the Malagasy population through the implementation of real estate program such as the “Trano mora”, though the project has not yet attained its full objectives.

In addition, the organizer of the event, Michel Domenichini Ramiaramanana, said the Habitat International Fair is so far the only economic event that deals with housing industry, which is nonetheless one of the cornerstones of the national economy. As such, the private sector massively participates in the event to make known to potential investors who come from countries like China and other European countries that the housing industry is going well in Madagascar. For this edition, the design and decoration sector represents 20% of the participants, demonstrating that the fair is open to diverse sectors.
