After three months and a half, the Transition herd already faces a new opposition that, in the next days, could radicalize itself dangerously.

The new opposition to the Transition in action

The political association Toliara Mijoro, allies of Andry Rajoelina in the ousting of Marc Ravalomanana, currently openly threatens the High Authority of Transition. The members of this political grouping in the city of Toliara (South) display their disappointment toward Rajoelina’s team which handles of the country after mid-March’s Coup.

Once again, the amnesty caused the apprehension of Toliara Mijoro. The political grouping is part of those that militated for the amnesty for facts linked to the crisis of 2002. Ever since, Toliara Mijoro has been a shy adversary for Marc Ravalomanana. In this sense, it was a strategic ally for Andry Rajoelina. But today, already a new deal is confirmed. Toliara Mijoro is part of the new opposition, a more radical one.

Indeed, the opposition from the city of Toliara already evokes the possibility of a next descent in the streets in order to” to oust” the High Authority of Transition. Once again, this opposition speaks of the” “people’s support” to reach this objective. A new cycle is beginning.

In the same way, ex-president Albert Zafy had launched a warning to the HAT. He doesn’t exclude either the contestation movements.

This situation will drive to a new confusion. The High Authority of Transition would have to fight on two fronts indeed. On one hand, Rajoelina’s team has to manage the “legalistic” contestation that supports the return of Marc Ravalomanana, and, on the other hand, it has to find the means to coax the new radical opposition, something it failed to do after three months and a half.
