Visit Andafiavaratra’s museum

A visit at the museum of Andafiavaratra, when you travel to Madagascar, is a must.  A visit of the museum of Andafiavaratra, formerly palace of the Prime Minister, gives you a good overview of the history of the kingdom of Madagascar. The museum currently shelters the rare objects that where rescued from the Queen’s palace fire in 1995.    Among them, the collection of “lamba” or royal silk fabrics preserved at the museum after having escaped the flames.  The palace of Andafiavaratra was built on the suggestion of Rainilaiarivony, Prime Minister at the time of the Malagasy royalty towards the end of the 19th century.  The courtyard of the palace, which also burnt in 1977, and was thereafter rehabilitated, provides a panoramic sight on the city of Antananarivo and on approximately about fifty kilometers around.
