influence on Governor Lahady Samuel, former president inflexible
defender. The protesters want the removal of the barriers set up by
Ratsiraka’s supporters on the national road between Antananarivo and

the damages.

Referendum

In parallel to this incident, UAO mediation mission published a
“proposal to solve the actual political crisis”. The
delegation managed by former Green-Cap president, Monteiro Macarenhas
expressed the idea of a transitional period that should not last over
6 months in order to organize a “neutral electoral consultation
, republicane and  just”. To be successful, it should be
necessary to set up a “national reconciliation government “,
to end general strike and demonstration and raise up the barriers on
the public roads. The process could end up to a referendum who would
confirm Marc Ravelomanana ‘s political takeover. According to UAO
this should be the only way to legalize his competencies on the whole
territory.
