Ancient Madagascans used to believe the souls of the dead to head for Ambondrombe. Very soon enough, the livings might take over the dead and walk the same path...alive though.

Ambondrombe, the height long shrouded in mystery

The administration in Fianarantsoa, in the heart of the southern central part of the island, is seriously focusing on the asset the sacred and mysterious height of Ambondrombe could bring in the tourism branch. Its natural biodiversity has long and largely been preserved due to the high level of respect paid by generations of locals to the site. No hand of any living people has nearly ever touched the area, for Madagascans used to believe Ambondrombe to be part of the very realm of the dead. Fine for the local tourism branch as well as for trekking and wildlife lovers who might respectively provide with and enjoy the opportunity to literally go there, where no one alive has gone before… and back again
