A few years ago, the Madagascan Middle West used to be largely alien to the capital city’s inhabitants. Now it is totally different. The wonderful weather and prospects of a comfortable ride in the central wilderness of Madagascar are seducing more and more nationals nowadays who know what they are about to be in for. The restored National Road 1 incidentally serves this new rush to the Middle West well. Several resorts have been emerging from oblivion all along this road, for instance the area of Ampefy and the magnificent Lake Itasy. A mere ride on the National Road 1 offers a second to none observation spot line over the typical central landscape. City dwellers know too good that the prize is worth the raid.
The areas located west of the capital city increasingly attract potential visitors, first among them Antananarivo's city dwellers themselves.
