The home grown solution is finding it hard to to go through but still has fans. Political groupings not included into the big four defined by international mediators joined forces and shaped up the fifth mobility. The displayed ambition is the erection of a significant consultation force within the settlement of the political crisis in Madagascar. The Crisis Settlement Front has some presidency potential contestants.

A fifth mobility putting its money on the Pretoria stage’s failure and on the armed forces

A political solution between Malagasy implies the introduction of new national mediators as well as a new mobility. It is not the first ever political claim for a fifth mobility. But popularity gaps almost certainly led to a foregone failure to get involve into the crisis’ settlement process. This time around, some big guns excluded from the Rajoelina mobility as well as from the joint three other Ratsirakas – Ravalomanana – Zafy mobilities, are joining forces to get some more political sway. The Crisis’ Settlement Front is now waiting for the potential failure of the Pretoria stage to step into action.

The” 5th mobility” doesn’t reject the last chance round of Pretoria. Although failing from being much convincing, the speech is politically correct. On one hand, could the Pretoria talks lead up to an agreement, so good. Else, “this agreement would have been the solution of a minority”. The other mobility estimates that the Malagasy would not agree with this non widened consensus. So read the argument pushing for a 100% Malagasy solution.

Monja Roindefo, the HAT former Prime minister, was driven to the Crisis’ Settlement Front by his blunt dismissal. “We are going to make some Malagasy solution drafts in  search of consensus and national unity”, stated the Monima party’s president. The declared presidential candidate is calling upon the armed forces’ responsibility. “Let it stand for the implementation of a solution made by Malagasy for Malagasy”.

The Front is made of some big guns with presidential ambitions and more or less political weightd. Roland Ratsiraka from Malagasy Tonga Saina is moving further away from the Rajoelina mobility. The HAT vice-president of the HAT has been militating for a quick national unity government erection and for early elections together with a constitutional referendum. The admiral’s nephew and the admiral’s former Vice Prime minister Pierrot Rajaonarivelo, are both declared presidential candidates. The leader of the Movement for National Development is still waiting for an amnesty law to come true, but does no more want to stand still.

Tovonanahary Rabetsitonta’s Grad Iloafo party, Clement Ravalisaona’s AME party and the HPM alliance are the Front’s other components. “Leaving no blank after Pretoria” is the 5th mobility’s creed. The armed forces’ support is vividly whished. Monja Roindefo displayed his lack of faith in a hybrid half military, half civilian government, for believing general Camille Vital to be already leading one of those. The “odd ones” are expecting support from the army in order to restore the balance. Such a thing would technically put all the contenders on the same equal footing.
