The teaching searchers´ union doesn't give in. The academic year 2011 remains jeopardized. The HAT´s minister in charge of superior education has well announced the administrative return´s date for the six universities, but it was a shot in the dark. The union´s claims for its money unpaid since 2008 remain.

Academic return: the SECES keeps holding on

An administrative return is everything but an academic return. The Union of teaching searchers (SECES) made the situation crystal clear. Courses will resume once claims are being satisfied. “He is the minister, he may announce the administrative return whenever he wants to”, reacted the president of the SECES, Armand Rasoamiaramanana. The HAT´s minister Antoine Zafera published in May various and respective administrative return´s dates for universities.
“this decision was jointly taken by the ministry and the council of university presidents “, declared the SECES. The striking teachers have not been consulted. The movement is therefore not coming to an end.  “There won’t be any teachers in the classrooms” emphasized the national president of the SECES. The academic year is consequently officially starting with striking teachers struggling with the transitional regime. Unpaid research allowances of Ar 800 000 per month are being claimed.
After one year and half of strike, the SECES is determined to claim victory as well. “Enough with faked promises. We must be certain that the state is to be capitalizing the decree it signed”. This is however not the HAT´s top priority yet. Giving in before the SECES might push the others to require advantages unsuited to the state finances. The HAT proposed some Ar 100 000 per month during the first semester and twice more during the second semester. The striking professors held this as an offense
