The ruling power’s ministry in charge of Communication does not display any evidence of considering either the ongoing wave of protests or the reaction of the Malagasy journalists’ trade union. As a proof, the RADIO FEON’NY TOAMASINA (RFT) radio station broadcasts over the island’s eastern Toamasina harbor city and recently received a warning letter for closely cooperating with the FREE FM radio station which did declare war to the transitional regime. The aforesaid partnership seems to be intensely annoying the ruling power.

Also a warning letter to the RFT radio station

The RFT radio station rebroadcasts every evening the FREE FM waves’ program “Anao ny Fitenenana” and has been doing so during the latest months. Both stations actually agreed on an alliance defending one common cause, namely freedom of speech and the right to criticize. The FREE FM station was previously also entitled to this kind of warning letters. Both speakers presenting the “Anao ny Fitenenana” program, Lalatiana Rakotondrazafy and Fidele Razara Pierre are currently on the run for being wanted by the police forces. The keep on speaking on air though, enlivening their program by mobile phone line.

The warning letter is obviously not to the station’s liking. One of its officials expressed its disappointment on the FREE FM station’s waves. Hard to believe that this station’s starring reporters supported not that long ago the current communication minister, Harry Rahajason, when they were together infuriating mobs against Marc Ravalomanana’s power in 2009, is it?
