After a four years long term, including two years spent on top of a dictatorial transition rejected by a growing part of the Malagasy people and dejected by the international community from scratch, the leader of the HAT remains unsatisfied and still yearns to misuse democratic ways of doing in order to collect legitimacy for his putsch originated ruling power… with no one but his own self on top.

Andry Rajoelina, a so named candidate in the name of human rights and national sovereignty

The United States of America openly stated their strong opposition to the presidential candidacy right to be granted either to putsch makers, or to beneficiaries. Prime Minister Beriziky now emulated into stating his “personal opinion” about it all, causing indignation in the Rajoelina sphere’s ranks.

No matter how much the national unity Prime Minister puts his say into perspective, namely by referring to his rejection of the transitional leader’s more than likely presidential candidacy as to a free point, he is from now definitely locked in dispute with Rajoelina.

A representative of the TGV parliamentary group labeled the Prime Minister’s verbal opposition to Andry Rajoelina’s will to run the presidential race as a “violation of human rights”. The national unity premier’s point is being held as an act of destabilization against appeasement, according to a famous phrase made famous in an interview recently published by a newspaper. The UDR-C group also delivered its contribution by denouncing an alleged biased position taken by the National Unity Prime Minister.

Keeping the exiled President until November 8th out enables the HAT to do away with Rajoelina’s main challenger. Marc Ravalomanana is, for the time being, offside. Condemned by the HAT’s justice, he is in need of an amnesty, technically speaking. In spite of the crisis settlement Roadmap’s article 20 supposed to pledge safe and unconditional return home to every politically exiled figure, the former president got prevented from coming back home within the six latest months before the electoral deadline, the absolute condition imposed to every potential presidential candidate by the electoral law drawn up and passed by the HAT.

Even if Andry Rajoelina’s dreams ever came true – legally remaining on top of his power, becoming the first president of his virtual republic created and imposed in December 2010, the political crisis and its fallbacks would not end. The sanctions against Madagascar will certainly not be lifted so lightly. The United States of America could not be budged from their position at all: They want the year 2009’s putsch maker and his clique out of the next presidential election in Madagascar.

By the simple principle of non-recognition motivated by the misuse of democratic means to grant legitimacy to an unconstitutional government change, Andry Rajoelina, even elected President of the TGV Republic, will not be recognized, and remain internationally rejected as it has been being the case during the latest couple of years.

In response, Rajoelina denounced before the UN an American interference. He believes that opposing his candidacy is nothing but a violation of the sovereignty of Madagascar. Malagasy laws patched by his clique up actually do allow him to stand as presidential candidate, in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic set to measure long before any end to the transition.

What will prevent Andry Rajoelina from standing in order to avoid a looming post-electoral crisis? As usual, no one can rely on his so-called “patriotism”, supposed to keep him away from running the election. The taste of power has changed everything.

The economic disaster created by his four-year long reign, a crumbling society, increasing poverty, a growing lack of security, arbitrary arrests and executions perpetrated by security forces, widespread restriction of freedom of speech and a never ending political crisis do not make out the transitional leader the clear favorite of elections basically expected to be a matter of formality any longer. Everything is on the verge of getting lost.

France can no longer endorse its protégé who ruined four years of undisputed power, and begins his search for another favorite. Self proclaimed candidate Rajoelina’s last chance happens to come up to an early “propaganda” financially well stuffed by state assets and the elimination of the competition.
