A bit more than two months after the opening of the Antananarivo-Guangzhou line, the national airline company Air Madagascar's delegate administrator appeared very satisfied of the balance sheet. This new line's success was yet uncertain because of the political crisis' backlash on economy and tourism.

Antananarivo-Guangzhou: Air Madagascar is reckoning upon freight service

Opened on July 06th, 2009, the Antananarivo-Guangzhou line is becoming the airline company Air Madagascar’s life jacket. “It might be too early to draw up a genuine balance sheet but the results are quite promising as for passengers’ flights and the freight traffic is appearing very lucrative”, declared the delegate administrator, Fidy Rakotonirina.

As far as Air Madagascar is concerned, the reservation rate has always been satisfying. The national airline company only sells a mere part of the available seats on each flight, never more than 70 places. The Antananarivo- La Reunion- Bangkok – Guangzhou connection is actually completed by a couple of other airline companies, namely Air Austral and Thai Airways. Air Madagascar doesn’t hide its ambition to complete, on its own, the connection to China.

The Malagasy company is definitely investing in the connection between the Great Isle to China. “There are a lot of business opportunities in Guangzhou “, justified Fidy Rajokotoniriba. Air Madagascar is reckoning on the exploitation of cargo transportation. According to the delegate administrator’s explanations, China’s potential is huge, among the leading ones in industrial manufacturing production and export.

In order to develop the Antananarivo-Guangzhu link, Air Madagascar is putting its greatest hopes in cargo transportation. The company is being represented in China by a general Agent of freight. Addy Hung, CEO of the KS society Global Air and Sea Logistic, has been introduced to operators and business men, all of them forwarding agents in Antananarivo. Crisis or not, Air Madagascar is keen on stimulating the take off of its China based freight service.
