Clashes in the capital city center

Gun shots and tear gas are back in the center of Antananarivo. Marc Ravalomanana’s partisans and some sympathizers of the other political mobilities opposing the unilateral erection of the second Monja Roindefo government have tried to enter on the place of the democracy by the noon on September 11th. 

Since very early in the morning, policemen and soldiers have been blocking the access to the so-called place of democracy. By 10:30 am, demonstrators began to settle in the surroundings of Ambohijatovo. 

Clashes began by 11:00 am, following some minutes of unsuccessful negotiations with the police forces. Military reinforcements have, thus, been rushed to the stage by the end of the morning.  

Some demonstrators took advantage from the situation to destroy some panels advertising for the Injet society, belonging to the HAT president, Andry Rajoelina. 

The political situation has been worsening again since the erection of the second Monja Roindefo government. This initiative qualified as “unilateral” by the international community and the other political mobilities, has exacerbated tensions again.
