Didier Ratsiraka standing against the single ballot

Former Malagasy president Didier Ratsiraka, current candidate running the incoming presidential elections basically expected to take place on July, 24th, strongly opposes the use of the “single ballot”. He holds this project as foolish, considering the unexpectedly high number of candidates and the high rate of illiteracy on the Great Isle. “Not even developed countries are making use of any single ballot. I wonder why on earth should a developing country like Madagascar ever go for it.” declared the former president in a talk show produced by the TV PLUS channel. Didier Ratsiraka believes the use of the single ballot to pave the way for electoral frauds since lowly educated voters would become more vulnerable to cheats, namely by being prompted to put more than one cross down, which would automatically ruin the vote as a whole
