Fianarantsoa city's town hall's agents have been being on strike since the three latest days. They definitely want Pety Rakotoniaina to step down as Special Delegation's president.

Fianarantsoa: The town hall’s employees are requiring Pety Rakotoniaina’s departure

The situation is getting tricky for Fianarantsoa city’s Special Delegation’s president, Pety Rakotoniaina, imposed by the High Authority of Transition. Town hall’s agents have gone on strike to force him out.

The motives evoked by the town hall’s agents are multiple: wages retention, influence peddling, repeated unjustified absence and so on.

“The SPD spends more time in Antananarivo than in Fianarantsoa.” shouted an employee on strike. Some others revealed that “lands belonging to the commune have been treacherously put on sale by the SPD”.

Pety Rakotoniaina is, anyway, in the eye of the storm. He is the first city magistrate appointed by the HAT to be undergoing such a strong pressure. The SPD said to be bound to talk with the town hall’s agents. He has, then, already denied his led sale of communal lands. “No bill of sale has yet been established” he argued.

It has been six months since Pety Rakotoniaina has been freed from jail by the HAT and propelled on top of Fianarantsoa’s town hall. On several occasions during the latest months he has topped the headlines as well, namely with his press confrontation with a couple of government officials.
