The HAT members are sending a message to Andry Rajoelina by the voice of their new spokeswoman, Ialy Rakotoniaina. They don't want to concede a thing from what has already been acquired even though they are not against negotiations.

Ialy Rakotoniaina, the HAT new spokeswoman is defending its gains,

As much as the transition government’s chief, the transition authority’s members feel threatened by negotiations whose end is to get a convention between the different political mobilities in Maputo. As the newly promoted spokeswoman of this institution which regroups all politicians allied to Andry Rajoelina during his power takeover, Ialy Rakotoniaina read the statement in which the HAT is defending its gains and its statute.

The transition authority’s members are basically not against the on-going talks in Maputo. They, however, warn against any resolutions that would penalize them. Could there be a charter, it must not destroy what already exists but complete it “. In order to justify the defence of their seats, politicians propelled in such a patched up institution keep calling upon the everlasting people’s will. According to them, an eventual reconsideration of the HAT would be a step back compared to the popular struggle.

The HAT members threaten to step aside from Andry Rajoelina if he fails to defend their interests. We cannot say that everything that will be signed in Maputo will be acceptable, we are not going to give in to pressure from international mediators “. His allies are quite far from thoroughly trusting Andry Rajoelina; for fear that he lets the genuine superior national interest being taken in account, at the expenses of political advantages.

If Marc Ravalomanana is supposed to be penalized by a resolution for the sake of the supreme national interest, the HAT members and the government of transition can well undergo the same fate. The HAT looks like a senate, either in its mission or in functioning. As political allies of Andry Rajoelina, its members could always get new seats even though the circumstantial institution is replaced.

The forty politicians should integrate either the transition’s superior council, or the transition’s convention. The difference is that they won’t be on their own no more to defend a single political orientation. Their majority is not even guaranteed, let alone nowadays’ advantages.

A hesitating Ialy Rakotoniaina read the HAT statement. She is quite a beginner in high profile political communication. Such a personality choice is actually controversial. She was certainly present all along the popular movement, but her CV is limited to being Pety Rakotoniaina’s wife. In her new position, Ialy Rakotoniaina will be assisted by the Commission’s president in charge of the HAT communications, René Rasolofo,
