The capital city’s surroundings are being shaken by more and more complicated land disputes, although no less than several years are to be expected prior to any court sentence.

Land disputes number on the rise

One the latest victims is the Adventist church, lands of which have long been illegally occupied by a newly patched up organization of families.

The agriculture ministry equally was entitled to the same kind of issue. Fields have been illegally occupied. This is no new scene around Antananarivo. Scores of owned lands are being occupied, illegal buildings are immediately erected, legal owners can nothing but resort to justice, which takes no less than years to expel illegal occupiers.
