French uniforms, officially playing the role of instructors, are on the Malagasy soil as a matter of fact. In the midst of a political crisis, they are intending to train the armed forces as explained by the Malagasy Ministry of Defence. Considering that the transitional regime, already rejected by the population´s majority, no longer owes its rule but to a fringe of the army, those news are not contributing to lower tensions. French military involvement in the Malagasy political crisis is however no scoop any more.

Malagasy crisis: the French army openly pokes its nose in it

A snapshot displayed very recently a French officer supporting the High Transitional Authority´s forces´ efforts to deal with Marc Ravalomanana´s supporters at the airport of Ivato, on January 21st. Most likely another “teacher”, isn´t he? On February 7th, the presence of a French officer over the Hotel du Louvre´s rooftop, near the presidential palace, has stunned many Malagasy officers. In its report concerning the shootout of February 7th, General Raoelina, member of the presidential guard, mentioned this odd presence without further details. This is also a cause for concern. The fact that crossfire claimed casualties on February 7th, 2009 happens to be rapidly growing convincing. The main witness, the HAT´s former prime minister, Monja Roindefo himself confirmed it. And Colonel Charles Andrianasoavina, the year 2009´s military rebel, has already confessed in a letter.
