The Malagasy former president has been kept in exile in South Africa since he was driven away from power by a putsch back in 2009, and refuses to designate any presidential candidate for his party until his come back home comes true.

Marc Ravalomanana does not want to talk about any candidacy before his come back on home soil

He addressed the issue with his supporters and emphasized his stand by phone line in the north western Mahajanga city. From South Africa, the most feared Malagasy outcast required first and foremost the correct completion of the implementation of the crisis settlement Roadmap. Addressing the elections comes in second position. This famous Roadmap officially considers the “return of all exiled political figures” as one of the crisis settlement’s keys.

The former president has long been making it clear that he would support no candidate for his own party as long as he remains out of the country… and stays true to his word.  His wife has recently been prevented by the transitional ruling power from taking a flight back to Antananarivo. Her mother has actually been laying in a relatively critical estate in a hospital bed for weeks so far, so the issue related to her daughter’s potential, though elusive visit largely remains on top of the local headlines in Antananarivo.
