The president in exile Marc Ravalomanana clearly confirmed that he will sign an agreement that will let Andry Rajoelina preside the Transition in Madagascar.

Marc Ravalomanana: “I will not sign”

“Granting legitimacy to a putsch maker is out of question” affirmed Marc Ravalomanana during a phone line interview on the MATV private TV channel. He had to reassure his partisans. Marc Ravalomanana also intervened live on phone line, addressing his sympathizers on the Legality Square in order to display his stand.

Marc Ravalomanana has presented his stand to Joaquim Chissano, the mediator elected by the SADC, and to the president of the African Commission, Jean Ping. In the interview published by MATV, Marc Ravalomanana has also announced: “if I had been there, I would have walked out of from the meeting room”.

As far as he is concerned, Fetison Andrianirina, from the Marc Ravalomanana mobility, has hinted that only the next four party leaders meeting supposed to be held next week could break the deadlock.

“We are questioning the appointment of neither Rakotovahiny Emmanuel as vice-president, nor Eugene Mangalaza as Prime minister, but we don’t admit the designation of Andry Rajoelina as president” specified the Marc Ravalomanana mobility’s delegation chief. It is his way to show that the Ravalomanana mobility has no incentive to block the agreement.

Fetison Andrianirina declared that the problem would be solved, could the Rajoelina mobility accept to designate someone as president, as long as his name is not Andry Rajoelina.

So the next chapter will closely depend on the next meeting between Marc Ravalomanana, Didier Ratsiraka, Albert Zafy and Andry Rajoelina. The meeting will be held either in Europe or on the African continent
