The technical staff sent by the Confederation of Christian Churches in Madagascar (locally called FFKM) keeps on working its mediation process out for the sake of contributing to put an end to the Malagasy political crisis. The FFKM got into contact with the SADC’s office in Madagascar to this end. The regional organization is in for supporting the incoming FFKM led mediation. But now that Parson Lala Rasendrahasina and Marc Ravalomanana legally recovered their previous positions on top of the FJKM, this mediation process might be more complicated than basically expected.

Mediation from the FFKM likely to be turned down

The Confederation of Christian Churches in Madagascar has been keeping silent over months since the resumption of the mediation process, but the FFKM’s technical staff actually waits for nothing but the SADC’s green light and support to take over and tackle the issue all by itself.

The FFKM’s mediation might however be overshadowed by the outcome of the FJKM Protestant Church’s latest synod. The electoral victory achieved by Parson Lala Rasendrahasina and Marc Ravalomanana is no good omen for the transition and its self proclaimed leader, Andry Rajoelina. The TGV train has been continuously locked in dispute since 2009 with the FJKM Church, and might not bury the war axe that so early, now that its arch enemies’ leadership has been renewed by a fair electoral process in Manakara.

After this synod and these elections cast in Manakara, transitional leader Rajoelina and his TGV clique are not much likely to accept a mediating side like the FFKM. Their indignation at the synod’s conclusion hints a potential denial of their support to the FFKM’s mediating role. A prayer ceremony held at the Catholic church of Ambatonilita officially consecrated the FFKM as mediator. Rajoelina’s band stood away from it.
