Monja Roindefo humiliated by Andry Rajoelina

Could the agreement between Madagascar’s four political mobility chiefs come into effect, Monja Roindefo will immediately have to leave the Prime minister’s palace that he occupied since March 2009.  

At the time of the International Contact Group’s third meeting, the government chief appointed by Andry Rajoelina in February, well before the Coup of mid-March, has been  simply humiliated before the panel of the whole international community’s representatives. 

Though he was present at the meeting in the Carlton hotel, Monja Roindefo swiftly had to leave, following the lecture of  Rajoelina’s letter appointing his vice Prime minister in charge of foreign affairs, Ny Hasina Andriamanjato, as mobility leader. 

The designation of nominees for the Transition’s key positions was, later on, to become fatal for Roindefo. The Prime minister appointed to direct the Transition’s government is, from now on, someone from the Didier Ratsiraka mobility, namely Eugene Mangalaza, academic and former parliamentarian currently based in La Reunion. 

Since the fierce struggle that opposed Andry Rajoelina to the three other mobilities bound by the Maputo agreements, various political parties have been stubbornly supporting Monja Roindefo remaining Prime Minister. The Gods have thrown the dices. The clash between both men is a reality.  

The Andry Rajoelina mobility can be nothing else but weakened by this “break up” in spite of the possible maintenance of the young putsch maker on top of the Transition. It will have to reckon with some government members and political groupings definitely rebuking Rajoelina’s move, although the latter had no other possible choice. International pressure and requirements from the three other mobilities has forced him to rule out his very makeshift friend.
