This year's June 26th may expect to be more peculiar than the other ones. Military commanders decided to make it theirs, as a matter of fact. The armed forces will get inspected by the armed forces transitional minister and the transitional secretary of state for the state police department. Not a single civilian leader will be seen at this inspection during the military parade inside the stadium of Mahamasina, and the celebrations basically organized by the civilian government have been canceled.

National day without national leader

The traditional brunch at the palace of Iavoloha has been erased from the program. The single scheduled brunch will take place inside an army officer’s mess on that national day. There are various interpretations of such series of decisions. One of them argues that military leaders might have unceremoniously seized the power. Another one, that the military leadership would be keen on keep away from the increasingly challenged Rajoelina led ruling power, considering the blow caused by the ruling power’s leader refusal to step down on May 27th, as he was meant to because of his already controversial presidential candidacy
