The Madagascan media landscape doesn't change much. After the muzzling of the pro-Ravalomanana medias, new daily news services have been starting to try fill the gap during the latest days.

New newspapers emerge

Newspapers in malagasy language are from now on available to the defenders of legality to follow the Madagascan crisis from another point of view. “Gazetin’ny Gasy” and “Vaoaon’ny Madagasikara” are both new publications which openly stand against the High Authority of Transition, born from the coup of latest March.

Whereas the trend has been to pick the HAT side after Andry Rajoelina’s takeover, both new born babies of the Madagascan written press long to inform in a different way. So, “Gazetin’ny Gasy” and “Vaovaon’ny Madagasikara” regularly report the actions led by the exiled president while denouncing back and forth the insanities of the current leaders of the Great Isle

Both legalistic newspapers strain to play an active role in the current context dominated by a unique line. Since the havoc in local journals “Le Quotidien” and “Ny Vaovaontsika” belonging to Marc Ravalomanana, the Madagascan press has been preferring to have a low profile. Such prudence definitely didn’t favour democratic debates at all. So the new daily publications try to remedy to this situation.

It is all about means and bravery for these newspapers to enrich again the legendary Madagascan paper press diversity. Such balance is still to be expected on TV and radio.

It is alleged that stations supporting the exiled president Marc Ravalomanana have actually been either ruined or threatened of closure.
