A legend says that Rapeto was a royal doctor. A man of very big size. An alleged print of its foot is visible in Ambohidratrimo.

On the steps of Rapeto at Ambohidratrimo

Located at some 17 kilometers North-West of the capital, the hill of Ambohidratrimo appears among the 12 crowned hills of the kingdom of Imerina which was the cradle of the unification of the Large Island. The old royal palate of Ambohidratrimo is in ruin since decades after being destroyed by the English during the Second World War. The royal tomb on the other hand remained quasi intact. Another attraction is the enormous foot print which would be that of the royal doctor Rapeto. Well before the unifier of Imerina, king Andrianampoinimerina took the hill, it was certain Ratrimo who reigned there, from where the Ambohidratrimo name, which literally means ?the hill of Ratrimo?.

The panoramic sight on the surroundings is beautiful and, in same time, brings essential information on the legend and the history of the kingdom of the center of Madagascar.
