As reporters were investigating RAKOTOVAO Mariot, the Special Delegation’s President and his department on Tuesday morning in Toamasina city, one of them was told by a guard that he could carry on further more into the SPD’s office.
Everything originated from an order from above, but no one yet knows whether the SPD has lifted it or not, since he was the one who invited reporters in first place. According to gossips, the ban would be a response to one this reporter’s article held by the SPD as a personal attack
Reporters doing their jobs must, however, are not supposed to have to undergo such reactions since Madagascar is, supposed to be a democratic country, and Toamasina is still part of it until further notice.
Subsequent talks between both sides would have led to a certain compromise, according to which the concerned reporter would be free to resume his job in the department soon.
