Orange Tower: the new highest roof-top in Antananarivo

The Carlton Hotel building will soon lose its title as being the building having the highest roof-top in Antananarivo. Actually, the SIPROMAD group is now constructing a new building in Ankorondrano which will have about 30 floors, whereas the Carlton building has only 14. Like the flamboyant glass-covered “FITARATRA” building and the majestic Zital tower which both make the pride of this industrial district, the new building called “Orange Tower”, with its skyscraper structure, will be just another impressive decorating monument, thus, making this area more opulent than ever.

Indeed, the quarter of Ankorondrano is a very flourishing industrial and business center since it shelters big companies’ head offices, factories, hotels, and supermarkets. Hence, given the importance of that district as a business center, the Ministry in charge of town and country planning has recently undertaken a renovation project of the road passing through Ankorondrano. This project intends to renovate the pavement starting from Antanimena to the train station of Alarobia, and uses a total budget of 3 billion Ariary.

As for the Orange Tower, its construction requires an investment amount of more than 100 billion Ariary. It is amazing to see that in time of economical crisis affecting the whole country, companies like the SIPROMAD can afford such a colossal project as this one. In fact, it is important to mention that the SIPROMAD group belongs to Iliaz Akbaraly, an Indo-Pakistani rich businessman, generally considered by the politico-economic society as an intimate friend of the President of the High Authority of Transition. In spite of that, the orange color of the new building has nothing to do with the TGV party’s basic slogan color. The thing is that the mobile telephone operator, Orange, will occupy a large part of that new building.
