Madagascar's stationery (PAPMAD) resumed production after a three years long stand by, and puts its money on recycled paper.

Papmad gets green

Papmad has been resuming its activities since mid 2009, but its bosses preferred to wait for 2010 to make the re opening official. CEO Patrick Rajaonary appeared optimistic. He argued that the market was ready either in Madagascar or throughout the Indian Ocean, especially that of recycled paper.

For PAPMAD’s bosses, recycled paper is a contribution to the promotion of long term development. The CEO did make no secret of some customers’ taste for recycled paper being based on ecological accounts. The worldwide ecological trend granting growing relevance to recycled products is part of the factory’s bosses’ incentives.

In spite of a production capacity of 18.000 tons per year, PAPMAD is starting with the basics with 3000 tons. The enterprise will actually not be able to get enough waste to be recycled before long.
