President Marc Ravalomanana has been invited by COMESA (Common market of Eastern and Southern Africa) for its 13th summit in Zimbabwe. He got there the opportunity to expose Madagascar's political crisis situation

President Marc ravalomanana invited at the COMESA summit

The discussions on Madagascar’s case resulted on the firm condemnation of the anti constitutional change in the country. The COMESA wants the SADC to keep on its action aiming to restore constitutional order and support this regional organization. The engagement on effective measures to sort the political crisis out instead of declarations and resolutions has been recommended.

The COMESA reminded through the Madagascan case how relevant it is to “speak with the same voice and act in the same direction once a position has officially been adopted during a summit”. Such a pertinent remark indeed as the current Madagascan authority strains to convince African countries to legitimize its coup.

The 13th Summit of COMESA has been the occasion for this regional organization to present its new Bureau headed by Zimbabwe succeeding to Kenya with Swaziland as Vice president. Madagascar has, for the time being, been left out of the newly founded Custom Taxes Union. A return to constitutional order is prior to any access to advantages of the regional integration for the Great Isle.

COMESA and SADC do consider Marc Ravalomanana as the genuine democratically elected president of Madagascar. The «imposed transition” following the military coup has not yet been recognized on the African continent in spite of  so said positive signs claimed by Andry Rajoelina, who did self proclaimed president of the country’s authority long before being recognized by the Constitutional Court.

Marc Ravalomanana’s version logically contrasts with Andry Rajoelina’s arguments, as the latter strains to dim his coup with a personal interpretation of arrangements taken in March 2009, definitely picking them out of from their original context. The elected president denies having willingly resigned and surrendered power to the military rule and emphasizes on having been pushed to leave the country by the putschists.
