Rural tourism in Ankadimanga

The beauty of malagasy countryside is not a secret. But, until now, the notion of rural tourism was yet to be discovered in Madagascar. The malagasy tour operator Somacram has solemnly launched a series of tours including rural destinations of historical interest in the High Lands. The launch ceremony took place in Manjakandriana, some 40 km East of the capital. The small city of Ankadimanga was chosen. This locality is distinguish by the beauty of the countryside and, most important, because of its historical past. It is in this place that king Andrianampoinimerina, who was at the origin of the island unification in the 12th century, installed his 12th wife, Ramiangaly. The lake where she used to bath may be visited by the public. In all, 5 villages have been chosen by Somacram to figure in their rural tours.
