Marc Ravalomanana's supporters within the GTT association in North America plan a sit-in in front of the United Nations in New-York.

Sit-in in front of the United Nations

At home as well as abroad, demonstrations against the Coup and the political takeover by the cartel of the High Authority of the Transition keep mobilizing the crowds. On Thursday June 25th, on the eve of the Madagascan national day, the members of the GTT (Gasy tia taninandrazana, or patriotic Madagascans) are going to organize a sit-in in front of the United Nations in New-York.

The demonstration of the 43 Street Manhattan aims to attract again the international community’s attention in general and that of the United Nations Organization (UNO) in particular and to grant more importance to the Madagascan political crisis. The legalistic side expects indeed henceforth concrete actions from the international community, beyond  declarations and statements.

Since the power conquest by Andry Rajoelina and army rebels in mid-March, the whole international community has generally been condemning the Coup d’etat. Madagascar has been suspended by scores of international institutions, for example the international organization of the French speaking countries or the African Union only. Today, the supporters of Marc Ravalomanana want “concrete acts” from the international community. Therefore, the Southern African Development Community (SADC) is being particularly mentioned by the legalistic side in different public gatherings for a military intervention, in order to return constitutional order in Madagascar.

In many countries of the world, the GTT organizes some mobilizations to cause more reaction more from the international community. The group represents the spokesman for the defence of legality outside of the national territory. The GTT already acted  in Paris, in La Reunion’s Saint-Denis, in Dakar, in different cities of France and, now, in New-York.
