SMILE operation: giving smile back to 175 children

For its seventh edition of the charitable medical operation called SMILE, co-organized by the Lions Club Antananarivo Analamanga and the South Africa SMILE operation, 175 children and adolescents having cleft lip and palate will be the beneficiaries of the operation. However, this number could be extended following the screening session that was held since yesterday at the HJRA hospital. After that, the operation itself will take place from September, 22 to 27, still at the HJRA hospital. So far, about 1.000 children have benefited from this free of charge operation, aiming to offer a real chance in life.

As part of this operation, the Lions Club Analamanga and the Telma Foundation, supported by Courts Madagascar and Colgate, have organized a game called “Tsiky SMS” since August, 1 that will end on October, 30, allowing the public to bring their contributions. As far as August is concerned, nearly 11.480 messages were received from Telma’s subscribers and a draw has been held last Saturday in Ankorondrano. The draw allowed the 11 selected subscribers to gain an electric oven, 5 Colgate packs and 5 Telma mobile phones. Concerning the game, one simply needs to send via an SMS the word “Tsiky” to the number 034 34 50 000 from a Telma mobile phone in order to participate in the fundraising operation, “Offrez un sourire, changez une ville” (Give a smile, change a life).
