No matter how much the transitional parliament runs out of money, a special twelve days long session started on July 2nd. Parliamentarians are in for addressing the code supposed to dictate the rules of engagement in the next elections in Madagascar.

Special parliamentary session addressing the elections

The decision to hold a special session was a surprise to many people. The parliamentary administration’s officials have been announcing for over a week that the parliament could not afford to hold any other session by itself, unless the government spends its own money to this end. But it came true anyway, hence the complete surprise, now that the parliament is broke.

Besides, the law deemed to regulate the elections will be closely and accurately addressed. The United Nations’ experts put May 2003 forth as a suitable electoral day. The national electoral commission decided to refrain from emulating and kept away from turning any electoral calendar out.
