Ralitera Andrianandraina was behind bars for a couple of years, however on no convincing account according to the justice. He has been consequently released on August 11th.

The High Constitutional Court´s former security top official is released

Several charges were brought against him in April 2009, namely conspiracy, murder, jeopardizing State security or illegal possession of weapons. Some charges however appeared quite ridiculous considering the responsibility of insuring security for such an important institution as the High Constitutional Court.

Ralitera and his fellow sufferers were sent behind bars for having illegally possessed weapons. Not a shadow of proof could be presented to justify the other charges.

This HCC´s former security service chief is on the other hand married to Ihanta Andriamandranto, a fervid pro-Ravalomanana activist, already imprisoned by the Transition in 2009. Ralitera was held by the opposition as part of the political prisoners targeted by the High Authority of the Transition.
