The political crisis in Madagascar has been extensively debated by the ACP and European Union countries' parliamentary assembly. The deputy Raharinaivo Andrianatoandro attended this meeting in Angola, between two lawsuits. The imposed authorities, stemming from March 2009's civilian and military putsch, have been scolded on issue of political prisoners. Their implementation of the political agreements dealt between the different mobilities will be supervised closely.

The incarcerated parliamentarian Raharinaivo Andrianatoandro re-established by the ACP/EU

The Malagasy parliamentarians have been invited at the ACP/EU parliamentary assembly in Angola. The invitation in itself was controversial because the Malagasy parliament has been dissolved by the self proclaimed president of the High Authority of Transition. The deputy Raharinaivo Andrianantoandro, repeatedly held in custody by the dictatorial transitional regime, reported that the ACP and the EU are asking for the liberation of Malagasy political prisoners in a parliamentarian resolution.

The meeting in Angola particularly addressed the research for a way out of from the crisis. The ACP countries sustained the erection of one commission to be in charge of the follow-up of whatever has been dealt in Maputo. The Democratic Republic of Congo proposed to isolate Madagascar’s present transitional authorities. Foreign partners will, in order to do so, be induced to refrain from any long term contract with Madagascar until the legal election of a genuine President. Exports of the country’s natural wealth will also have to be supervised.

The Coup which took place in Madagascar has been worsened by the dissolution of the National Assembly and the Senate by Antananarivo city’s mayor, Andry Rajoelina, self proclaimed president, and raised to power by a fringe of the armed forces. Parliamentarians, stemming in majority from the TIM party, the elected President Ravalomanana’s one, had attempted to make do with the country’s new strong man. The new power’s clean sweep policy finally overcame the opened arms initiative. The members of the latest legal government having been targeted by an opened manhunt, parliamentarians became the outposts of the resistance.

TIM Deputies and Senators have been being targeted by political arrests whose motives have more or less the shape of trivial criminal indictments or alleged crimes against national security. The prisoner of the year award is entitled to parliamentarian Raharinaivo Andrianatoandro. Charged in the makeshift bombs case which blasted nothing but press excitement, the spokesman of the TIM party has been freed once following the  Maputo agreements. Then, he has been incarcerated again for having played the role of mediator between the police forces and the legalistic demonstrators. Breach of public order, organization of unauthorized demonstration and complicity of public goods’ destruction have been burdened on his back… the bill was bitter for the deputy.

Jailed to make an example in order to deter the political anti-HAT demonstrations after the Maputo agreements, Raharinaivo Andrianatoandro was meant to appear in court on December 08th, 2009 for the case related to the demonstrations of Ambohijatovo. However, both the public prosecutor and Doma Pub, a corporation belonging to the Rajoelina family, whose advertising panels have been thrashed by demonstrators, strangely failed to appear. The suit was logically postponed for February 2010. It is not a reprieve granted to Deputy Raharinaivo Andrianatoandro, since a political verdict being stated now is very likely to be quite sensitive.
