That's the way it has to be. The current electoral schedule can no more remain viable, in spite of the International Community's willingness and optimism. The acting president of the National Independent Electoral Commission (CENIT), Mrs Atallah Béatrice, clearly stated that technical issue require much longer to get settled. No presidential election's first round will consequently take place on July 24th

the postponment of the elections is inevitable

Designing and printing the famous single ballots in South Africa would on its own require at least 45 more days, according to Atallah Beatrice. The distribution of these ballots throughout the country will equally take time, considering that loads of areas remain quite remote. Holding the presidential election’s first knock out round on July 24th proves therefore impossible. Yet, the International Community still insists. Mr Leonidas Tezapsidis, the European Union’s ambassador emphasized anew that the electoral operation will start when it was basically expected to. The CENIT will soon address this issue with the United Nations and the other partners, and let them know the need to postpone the decisive tournament, a tournament which, as a reminder, used to be supposed to have started back in May.
