Marc Ravalomanana's party solemnly recovers the political stage. During the crisis, may top figures had to vanish for security reasons and many others definitely swapped allegiance too.

The TIM in search of new leaders

At the time of a ceremony planned on Sunday February 28th, the TIM party is intending to make its new leader’s names public. Since the beginning of the political crisis, many of the party’s leaders defected; some of them defending their own interests, some others, simply their heads.

Among those who swiftly swapped allegeance is appearing Rajemison Rakotomaharo, ambassador in Switzerland and  former president of the Senate, then the late Jacques Sylla,  former president of the National assembly, Cécile Manorohanta, former defense minister, and Rakotomalala François Emile, former vice-president of the national assembly and former chief of region. These were probably the most famous ones, but arguably not the latest.

The party’s national president , Yvan Randriasandratriniony, steathly went into exile following several retaliation threats during the political crisis. Some TIM party based parliamentarians, however, dared the threats on home soil. Zafilahy Stanislas, Raharisaina and Rasomotra were probably the most courageous figures of all for having been animating demonstrations supportive of Marc Ravalomanana during a full year. They kept on doing so even when prosecutions against Marc Ravalomanana’s supporters reached its climax

The crisis failed to have killed the TIM. The latest active members based on home soil are anxious to let it be known. The party still has nearly one thousand elected mayors throughout the Great Isle’s communes. In view of the country’s new political situation, new leaders must be designated.
