The tropical depression Hubert made at least 8 casualties and 12.000 homeless victims

Madagascar’s south eastern part has been Hubert’s rainy wind gusts’ main victim. The National Natural Disasters Management Office ( local BNGRC) drafted a still temporary but already troubling report. There are 8 casualties from various regions hit by the depression.

All over the surroundings of Mananjary, the depression’s gateway from the Indian Ocean in middle of week, some 2000 cabins have been sunk by rising water levels.

On the whole territory, some 300 buildings have been damaged. In the Alaotra region, the Great Isle’s central eastern rice barn, 4 hectares of rice fields are disappeared under the water. Rescuers are progressively coming up. Some tracks have temporarily been cut because of rising water level or land falls.
