The World Entrepreneur Award is now opened for Malagasy contestants

For the very first time, this year, Malagasy entrepreneurs will be able to take part in the global competition know as World Entrepeneur Award, which decorates the winner with the title of “Entrepreneur of the Year”, or the world’s most renowned entrepreneur. This award is organized on an annual basis by the Swiss-based firm Ernst & Young, one of the world’s biggest companies specializing in the fields of financial auditing, taxation, financial transaction and counseling services

The competition, which is already organized regionally and internationally in over 135 cities and in nearly 50 countries, will be available for Malagasy participants for the first time. It is made possible as part of the effort to enlarge the program to southern African countries. From now on, then, entrepreneurs from across the sub-Saharan regions may apply, and they have until April 30, 2011 to submit their application forms. The doors leading to the global competition, the World Entrepreneur Award, will be opened for the regional winner of the competition.

According to Zanele Xaba, Director of Program for Ernst & Young World Entrepreneur Award, “The reason for the extension of the competition to sub-Saharan regions is in order to give these regions the chance to compete and to be recognized. The contest is a unique opportunity for all entrepreneurs to meet, to exchange ideas, to develop social networking and to promote the best example of entrepreneurship in Africa and around the world.
