“Trano mora”project exhibition: 500 visitors per day but no buyers yet

During the week of its launching exhibition, at least 500 persons a day visited the exhibition of the project “Trano mora” (cheap house) at the Ministry of Regional Development and Decentralization. The aim of the exhibition is to inform interested public about the different forms to be provided and about the sales conditions of these “trano mora”. Among the nine conditions to be met, one of the most important is the employment certificate, showing that the buyer of the house can effectively fulfill his or her engagement. Otherwise, a valid bank account can also be accepted as a guarantee of the sales.

As explained by the official in charge of this project within the Ministry, Randriamilamina Rija, no prospective buyer has yet submitted the required application forms, although the application time has already started on September, 12. That official also described the profile of the potential beneficiary of the project, namely that he or she must be under 35 years old, single or married but must be already a mother or father, and must have a valid employment. The beneficiary will have to pay 200.000 Ariary per month during 5 years before becoming the proprietary of the house whose selling price is 12 million Ariary.

The “Trano mora” will be built on public land, and in Antananarivo, there will be 260 of them built in Anosiala Ambohidratrimo, 38 houses for Antsirabe, and 100 houses for each province, including Toliara, Antsiranana, Fianarantsoa and Toamasina. It is however to be noted that for Mahajanga, the project is still suspended due to recent land disputes which became an object of scandal among the media. Regarding the closing date for submission of applications, it is set for December 2, 2011.
