On the genuine Transition's starting line up, formations and political parties are displaying their ambitions and their goals. The TGV wants to take advantage from his moment of glory to get ready for the elections as party. The political forces gathered around the Zafy mobility want, first and foremost, to institute an in depth change into the system.

Transition: the TGV aiming at elections, the HPM, at reconciliation

The TGV’s “no damn about politics, let us address Antananarivo’s development” era is over. Propelled on top by a Coup disguised in a popular movement, the not yet official youth’s party appreciates the taste of power. A convention is planned before the end of the year 2009 to operate the mutation. This ambition to become a political party is dimmed to boost claimed electoral objectives.

During the political crisis, quite a lot of political mercenaries went up in the TGV’s wagons. The party must, first of all, decentralize its structure to reach the other regions of the country. Andry Rajoelina’s association took advantage from the Arema’s wobbling to recover basic militants. Even within the transitional government put in place on the place of May 13th, some proxies of Ratsiraka or Pierrot Rajaonarivelo are now sailing under the TGV colors. It would only be half astonishing since these politicians who wore the orange jacket would have been banished by the red party.

“The TGV is ready to face up to elections in the 4th Republic”, read the association’s chairwoman in an official statement at the outcome of a meeting in Antananarivo. Andry Rajoelina’s basic formation announced its willingness to collaborate with the other political forces. This electoral ambition is obviously far reaching and even presidential. As Transition’s president, Andry Rajoelina will be entitled to run as a candidate, as clarified by the Addis Ababa additional act. He will only have to resign within 60 days before the vote. Before all that, the TGV will first have to win the referendum’s battle to match the Republic’s constitution to its candidate’s profile, as he is aged less than 40 years.

The pro Albert Zafy HPM (Union of the Political Forces) political alliance does not appear as so ambitious in the conquest of power. Its priority is not the presidential race but the “revision of the Republic for a genuine democracy “, what will permit” to avoid the repetition of the political crises in the country “. In order to achieve anything, the HPM wants to push to the national reconciliation in the former president’s wake. This formation does not want to focus on the electoral battle as long as real changes are not completed in the country’s functioning.

In this consensual and inclusive Transition, the HPM is pushing for a long term change within the system. It believes the assignment of the roles in the transitional institutions to be not enough to make a change for the next Republic. The HPM is going up to proposing a reform of the economic system. Such an in depth change will in no way be possible unless by being in power during the Transition. Will the Zafy mobility fight the greedy Rajoelina mobility for the seats dedicated to the other political forces? This latter has actually interpreted the assignment of the latest seats as their dedication to the TGV as well as to the Forces for Change.
