Tulear: Seecaline celebrates its 20th anniversary

The Malagasy Prime Minister, Omer Beriziky, honored with his presence the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Seecaline project which was held in Kiembe Haut, Toliara, last Saturday. Born in the wake of the disaster known as “Kere” (famine) that hit the Southern part of Madagascar in the 1990s, Seecaline is a project whose primary goal is to improve the nutritional status of mother and child.

From its inception until the present time, a qualified team of Seecaline has been monitoring children’s weight through good nutrition. But at the same time, the team also monitors the mother’s health. Actually, in order to ensure the good health of children, especially those living in remote areas, Seecaline project performs regular health monitoring and vaccination session and distributes vitamin A on the same occasion.

The presence of Prime Minister in Tulear shows how important the project is for the government of the Transition. During his address, he stated that project like Seecaline is so vital for the vulnerable population of Madagascar that it deserves the support of donors, given the ever-increasing number of Seecaline agency across the island that reached more than 5 000 during the last twenty years.
